The Republic of Tatarstan plans to take patronage over the memorial complex in Belarus
The representative office of Tatarstan in Belarus is planning to take patronage over the memorial complex "Dneprovsky rubezh" in Shklov district of Mogilev region. A representative fr om Kazan visited the heroic place wh ere one of the units of the 18th Kazan Division held a courageous defence in 1941. The general public first learnt about the tragic and heroic fate of soldiers from Tatarstan 20 years ago from Nikolai Borisenko's book "The Dneprovsky rubezh: The Tragic Summer of 1941". At that time local residents decided to restore the division's stronghold here — with trenches, a dugout and the installation of a monument. The Dneprovsky rubezh is the territory along the Dnieper River from the Russian Smolensk to Loev in the Gomel region. And the place in Shklov district, according to historians, is evidence of the greatest heroism in the defence of the Dneprovsky rubezh.
