Restrictions on visiting forests are in effect in 78 districts of Belarus. There is a first class fire threat in the country, and the predicted dry July and August are ahead. In order to respond promptly to emergencies, 25 aircraft of the Ministry for Emergency Situations have been put on 24-hour readiness. The equipment is based at airfields in Minsk, Postavy and Vitebsk, and is transferred to the regions during the fire season. Not only manned vessels are used for monitoring, but also drones with thermal imagers. They precisely define the boundaries of underground peat fires. When a fire is detected, crews coordinate extinguishing with forestry enterprises, and in difficult cases, the Ministry for Emergency Situations joins.
