Representatives of international organisations assessed the impact of the Polish fence on Belovezhskaya Pushcha
Damage to the relic forest and the iron curtain. Representatives of the UN, UNDP and WHO were able to personally assess the impact of the Polish fence on Belovezhskaya Pushcha. The Belarusian side informed the representatives of international organisations about the consequences of Poland's ill-considered actions. The fence has caused tangible damage to the relict forest of Belovezhskaya Pushcha and its inhabitants: the soil cover and hydrological regime have been disturbed. The gene pool of wild animals is expected to deteriorate, as the fence creates a barrier and their migration is blocked. Belarus has repeatedly appealed to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. Last year, the experts of the organisation drew up a report on the negative impact of the fence and gave about 15 recommendations, of which almost all were sent to the Polish side. However, no response was received from Warsaw.
