Minsk and Brest join the patriotic action "Shot of Memory"

"Shot of Memory" is a midday single blank shot from an artillery gun. The action is dedicated to the memory of the feat of arms of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War and the fallen defenders of the Fatherland. The ceremony will be attended by officials of the Armed Forces, government agencies, the Embassy of Russia in Belarus, representatives of veteran and youth organisations, servicemen. The Ministry of Defence drew the attention of the residents of Minsk and Brest to the fact that on the day of the action at 12 p.m. a loud gunshot will be heard, and asked everyone to remain calm, the event is held under the control and guidance of the Armed Forces servicemen. The project was launched in November 2017 in the Russian city of military glory Kalach-na-Donu. In honour of the 75^th anniversary of the Soviet counter-offensive at Stalingrad, a salvo was fired from ZIS-3 artillery pieces. The initiative was supported by numerous hero-cities of Russia. In the year of the 80^th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Minsk Hero City and the Brest Hero Fortress joined the action.
