Latvia will not close the border with Belarus and Russia
26.09.2025
Latvia sees no benefit from closing the eastern land border. This was stated in the Interior Ministry of the Baltic country. At the same time, the department recognized that such a decision was made taking into account economic feasibility. After all, if the land border is closed, Latvia will lose many jobs and budget revenues. And the state of the country's economy leaves much to be desired. The national debt rose to almost 50% of GDP in 2024. Poverty in Latvia accounts for almost 25%. A recent survey showed that almost half of the country's workers are dissatisfied with their salary levels.
