Latvia proposes to partially close the checkpoint "Paternieki" on the border with Belarus
The State Border Guard of Latvia proposed to partially close the checkpoint "Paternieki" on the border with Belarus because of the influx of migrants. According to the head of the agency, the Border Guard intends to appeal to the government with such a proposal. In this case, it will be possible to cross the state border at this checkpoint only by car. Recall, last weekend Latvian border guards closed the crossing "Paternieki". People were forced to wait for about 9 hours to go to Latvia. The situation was commented in the State Border Committee of Belarus. According to the agency, a group of Africans were traveling to the European Union with valid documents. However, 10 foreigners were denied registration on the territory of Latvia. Later, border guards blocked the road in both directions and did not let the foreigners, trying to find out the reason for the denial of entry. After 6 hours of conflict, the Africans returned to Belarus, where they were provided with a rest room, water and transportation.
