Historical and legal assessment of genocide discussed in Grodno
20.02.2025
Representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, Investigative Committee, students and teachers from Belarus and Russia gathered in Grodno to discuss legal aspects and consequences of the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War. In the centre of attention — the results of the investigation of the criminal case on genocide. More than three years of work on the case showed that the scale of the tragedy is much bigger than it was considered in the Soviet period. Almost 12.400 settlements were completely or partially destroyed on the territory of Belarus, 288 shared the fate of Khatyn. And these figures will grow as the investigation continues.
