Family Day is celebrated in Belarus
On 15 May, in accordance with the resolution of the UN General Assembly, the International Day of Families is celebrated. In Belarus, the national holiday Family Day is celebrated on this day. A total of 2.6 mln families live in Belarus with 9.2% of Belarusian families raising three or more children. One of the most important priorities of the country's social policy is to support families with children. Additional types of material assistance are being introduced and social benefits are increasing. As of 1 May 2025, 145.880 "Family Capital" deposit accounts had been opened for families with many children. State support for the family is aimed not only at increasing the birth rate and the material well-being of the population, but also at strengthening the family as a social institution and the moral basis for the sustainable development of society.
