Country's first center for hearing and speech pathology operations at Grodno University Clinic
It was opened 16 years ago as part of a program on hearing impairment in newborns and young children, which involved timely detection, in-depth diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients with deafness and hearing loss. At the same time, another know-how was launched in Grodno region. Audiological screening allows to check the hearing status of babies in obstetric departments. The Center annually performs about 1 thousand hearing tests on newborns, as well as about 200 expert studies on children of different ages. Now the institution is working to restore and preserve hearing in both children and adults. The emphasis is on the earliest identification of the problem and timely assistance. In case of bilateral deafness, young patients undergo cochlear implantation. Over100 hearing aid surgeries have been performed.
