Belarusians mourn the death of Pope Francis
A requiem mass for Pope Francis was held in Cathedral of the Holy Name of Saint Virgin Mary. A book of condolences was opened at the diplomatic mission of the Holy See. One can leave words of remembrance and sorrow from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. up to and including 24 April. President Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed condolences on the death of the Pontiff. "In Belarus we have taken the news about the end of the life of His Holiness Pope Francis with a feeling of deep sadness. Francis' many years of service to Christ were full of love for the congregation, for all people, for the whole world. As a true humanist and defender of the interests of the common man, the Pontiff made an invaluable contribution to ensuring social equality and justice. The Pope's activity became a testimony of deep faith, wisdom and humanism. I recall with warmth the official visit to the Vatican and the thoughts exchanged with Francis in sincere letters. I am grateful for his work on strengthening mutually respectful relations between Belarus and the Holy See", the letter of condolence reads.
