Belarusian banks will accept contaminated currency
01.10.2025
Starting today, Belarusian banks will accept foreign currency containing contamination that glows under ultraviolet light. The National Bank announced uniform requirements for all financial market players. The President has instructed that this matter be resolved. The National Bank previously announced that it had commissioned a special scientific study from the Academy of Sciences. Its preliminary conclusion was that the presence of elements visible only under ultraviolet light should not be a limitation for banknote acceptance. However, worn, torn, and glued banknotes, as well as those with written notes, must still be submitted for collection. However, the fee for this operation will be more than tripled.
