Belarus is developing a new Environmental Code

It is intended to become a reliable basis for environmental protection, rational use of natural resources and ensuring environmental safety. Scientists and experts are involved in the development. The document was submitted for public discussion. The suggestions and comments received from the citizens of Belarus are currently being analyzed. The very legal mechanism for regulating environmental relations in the draft law will remain unchanged. However, the new Environmental Code will include additional requirements for monitoring land, conducting environmental assessments, protecting nature reserves, and accounting for harmful substances. All norms stipulated by the draft law will enter into force one year after its adoption.
