Amnesty bill submitted to Parliament
25.04.2025
Belarus will hold an amnesty, which will affect almost 8.000 convicts. The corresponding bill was submitted by the Government to the Parliament on the instructions of the President. The decision is timed to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Four amnesties have been announced over the past five years. The current one will be carried out taking into account the successfully tested approaches. Belarus proceeds from the fact that every person is capable of change, while the society has the moral right to give a chance for correction. Many experts assess the policy of the Belarusian state towards prisoners as humane and fair, emphasising that an individual approach helps to exclude recidivism.
