A mass grave from the Great Patriotic War was discovered in Vitebsk region

A burial place from the times of the Great Patriotic War was discovered near Lepel. Excavations have been going on for several weeks. Specialists believe that the number of civilians buried in the forest area may exceed two hundred. The place of execution became known thanks to the testimony of witnesses of those terrible events. Excavations are planned to be completed in early summer. The discovered remains of Nazi victims will be sent for examination, and then reburied according to tradition. In 2025, the search will be carried out in Vitsebsk, Polotsk and Braslav districts. In total, during the investigation of the criminal case of genocide of the Belarusian people, more than 60 previously unknown places of mass burial of civilians were revealed.
