Lukashenko opens main cultural event of the year

The 29th International Arts Festival Slavianski Bazaar was opened the night before at the Summer Amphitheater in Vitebsk. Traditionally, the main cultural event was inaugurated by the President of Belarus. This year, Philip Kirkorov received a special award Through Art to Peace and Understanding from the Belarusian head of state. At the opening ceremony, Aleksandr Lukashenko also awarded the Union State Prizes in literature and art. For several hours, Vitebsk audience enjoyed the gala concert featuring famous musicians. Three festival days of fiery melodies, rich cultural program, meetings with old friends and idols are to follow.
