The exhibition "Russian impressionism" opened in Mogilev

The exposition is presented in the Mogilev museum of V. K. Byalynitsky-Biruli. It has spread over four halls, from the earliest paintings of the late 19^th century to the works of the early 20^th century. Impressionism came to Russian art at the end of the 19^th century. Unlike the French, Russian artists sought not only to convey the impression of the moment, but also to move on to a philosophical understanding of what they saw. Some of the paintings on display are being shown to the public for the first time in 75 years after extensive restoration. The collection includes almost 40 works from the collections of the National Art Museum.
