45th anniversary of the Museum of the Belarusian Folk Art
12.12.2024
12 December marked the 45th anniversary of the opening of the Museum of the Belarusian Folk Art in Raubichi — a branch of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The former Krestogorski church houses collections of crafts — examples of weaving, pottery, wood carving. It was the initiative of Elena Aladova, director of the State Art Museum, to preserve and fill the cult building dating back to 1862 with art. And her son, honoured architect Valmen Aladov, took on the restoration. The entire Raubichi sports complex is also Aladov's project, it was erected for the 1972 Biathlon World Championships. Today the Museum in Raubichi is a showcase of national rural life from the 16th to the 20th centuries.
