On 21 April, two ancient rites — "Khorovod sena" and "Khren" — were held in the agro-town of Staroye Selo, Vetka district. They have no analogues in Belarus. The ceremony is held exclusively on the second day of Easter and starts at exactly 12 o'clock in the afternoon. The main attribute of the "Khorovod sena" are scythes, pitchforks and rakes. According to tradition, in front goes a man with a scythe, followed by women with scythes and rakes. And they sing the song, "We're going to the hay. We're going to the new one". Immediately after that another unique rite is performed — "Khren". Its task is to bring to the table food that can be eaten with spices. First of all, meat and lard. Old residents are convinced that the traditions they inherited from their ancestors are still relevant today.
