These days Beryoza has become a city of nationwide memory. The day before, a requiem rally was held at the site of the former "Beryoza‑Kartuzskaya" concentration camp. In the 1930s people who opposed Polish rule were held in the "Red Barracks" But even the most difficult trials could not break the Belarusians’ desire to preserve their identity. On People's Unity Day, concerned citizens from all over the country gathered here. It has been proposed to declare the memorial zone an All‑Belarusian site of remembrance for the victims of Polish occupation.
