They were found during search operations on the territory of the Virovlya village council. It was not possible to establish the names of the heroes. Representatives of Vitebsk regional and district authorities, public organisations, searchers, local residents and schoolchildren gathered to commemorate the Red Army soldiers. A commemorative information plate with a QR code with full information about the site was installed at the war grave in the village Kholomer'e. The Gorodok offensive operation to liberate the district from the Nazi invaders began in December 1943. During the bloody battles more than 25 thousand soldiers and officers of the Red Army gave their lives during the liberation of the district. There are 97 war graves on the territory of Gorodok District, which are cared for by the young generation of Belarusians.
