Today marks the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.Belarusis home to about half a million people with disabilities. One of state policy priorities is providing social protection to the disabled, who receive pensions and benefits in a timely manner, purchase subsidised medicines and are entitled to free treatment facilities. A programme for creating a barrier-free environment is currently underway. Day-stay departments are open at territorial social service centres to help people with disabilities integrate into society.
