Belarus honors the memory of its heroes and does not forget their heroic deeds. On International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Genocide, memorial services and requiem rallies are held across the country. This is a special date for Belarus. During the Great Patriotic War, the country lost one in three people. A memorial ceremony was held at the memorial to the victims of the Stalag 352 concentration camp. Flowers were laid by city and district administrations, clergy, youth, and activists from public associations. On 9 December, 1948, the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide was adopted. This was the first human rights agreement adopted by the UN General Assembly.
