Republican Scientific and Practical Centre of Pediatric Surgery performed a unique operation on a newborn from Russia

According to emergency indications, the patient underwent a one-stage surgical correction of a complex congenital heart defect. The peculiarity of the case is the low body weight of the child — only 2.5 kg. In world practice, with this weight, surgical treatment is more often performed in two stages. It should be noted that the operation was performed free of charge as part of the provision of emergency medical care. Two weeks after the operation, the girl remains under medical supervision. At the moment, the child has already been transferred from the intensive care unit to a specialized department for further rehabilitation.
