Holy Week is the week before Easter, which is dedicated to remembering the last days of Jesus Christ's earthly life. It is a time of the strictest fasting, good deeds and silence. Each day has the prefix Great. On Great Monday Christians remember the dried up to the root barren fig tree as an image of a man who has lost his faith. In churches there are special chants during the service today. On Holy Saturday one of the main events of the whole Orthodox world takes place — the descent of the Holy Fire in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Everything will end with the Bright Resurrection of Christ. This year Orthodox Easter coincides with Catholic Easter.
