Surgeons of National Research Center for Cardiology successfully performed open prosthesis of thoracic aortic aneurysm. The operation lasted about 9 hours. This is a highly complex surgery. Moreover, this was the first time a surgical intervention was performed on such a severe condition. The postoperative period saw no complications. The patient is now on rehabilitation in a hospital. This kind of surgery is only rarely performed anywhere in the world. The number of open interventions on thoracic aorta stands at about 40 per year.
