The animals will join Russia's only free-roaming population. An environmental project to restore this population has been underway in the region for three years. During this time, 24 Belarusian zubrs from Belovezhskaya Pushcha have settled in the Muradymovskoye Gorge Nature Park; they have successfully adapted and produced offspring. The total herd currently numbers 33 animals.
