3 April is the day of the historical breakthrough of Belarusian transplantologists. 17 years ago, the first liver transplant was performed, which became an impetus for the development of many areas in medicine, as well as the introduction of the latest technologies and proprietary techniques. During this time the school of Belarusian transplantology became known far beyond the country's borders. Today the centre is one of the largest in Eastern Europe, and Belarus ranks first in the CIS in the number of transplants per mln of population. The range of surgical interventions is growing in the regions as well.
