Belarusian archaeologists conduct underwater research

Under a layer of peat at a depth of more than 2 meters, it was possible to discover preserved organic remains. It is about bone jewelry and tools of labor of people from an ancient residential complex. A large expedition of archaeologists also unfolded on Selyava Lake in the Krupki district. There, specialists combined underwater research with excavations on land. As a result, a polished stone axe was discovered under a meter-thick layer of soil, presumably from the Mesolithic era. Now scientists are faced with the task of not only studying the artifacts, but also preserving them for future generations.
