In 2013, the United Nations General Assembly decided to proclaim 3 March as World Wildlife Day. This year it is held under the slogan "Financing Wildlife Conservation: Investing in People and Planet". Specialists note a positive trend: the number of rare animals is growing in the Belarusian forests. Thanks to state support and the efforts of scientists, it is possible to preserve and restore the populations of lynx, brown bear, badger and other species listed in the Red Book. Hundreds of habitats of rare animals and plants have been protected, 17 plans for the conservation of rare animals and 35 plans for the protection of wild plants have been approved. Belarus conducts continuous environmental monitoring, including soil and vegetation monitoring.
