One of the new opportunities is the development of a free trade port on Hainan Island. It is planned to create favourable conditions for investment and business there, thus attracting more and more companies, including those from Belarus. This was stated by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China Zhang Wenchuan during a press briefing in Minsk. China is the second largest trading partner of Belarus. Cooperation between the two countries in machine-building, agriculture and healthcare is developing at an accelerated pace, while joint projects, such as the Great Stone Industrial Park, have been recognised as effective. The briefing also paid special attention to the China-Belarus relations. It was noted that the two countries will continue joint projects in economy, culture, education and other areas on the basis of deep friendship and mutual respect.
Also, the role of the Belarusian mass media, in particular the international satellite TV channel Belarus 24, in strengthening the relations between Belarus and China was emphasised.
