A renovated monument on the site of a war grave from the Great Patriotic War was opened in Dubrovno district

Nearly 2.000 Red Army soldiers are buried there. The monument was restored thanks to the project "Victory Addresses". From September 1943 to June 1944 there was a front and bloody battles in this area. It was here that Operation Bagration began. More than 40.000 defenders are buried in 30 military graves, which are located on the territory of the district. A large delegation from Smolensk region honoured the memory of those who defended the Motherland together with the Belarusians. The opening of the monument is timed to the anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on the Establishment of the Union State. A dialogue platform was also held to discuss joint projects of Belarus and Russia, including those aimed at preserving historical truth.
