8 August — International Ophthalmologist's Day

In Belarus, ophthalmological care is available at all levels, from district polyclinics to national centers. In 2024, ophthalmologists admitted about 2.7 mln patients. More than 60.000 people have received inpatient treatment. Surgeons performed over 57.000 operations. Minimally invasive treatment methods are being actively introduced in Belarus. They suggest a "one-day surgery", when the patient returns home on the day of the operation.
