The traditional Minsk International Book Fair has opened today. The Belarusian capital is hosting the event for the 24th time. This year the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is the Guest of Honor. Representatives of more than 30 countries are expected to take part in the forum. Belarus President has sent greetings to its participants. According to Alexander Lukashenko, thanks to the book fair the 500th anniversary of East Slavic book printing becomes the issue of international importance. In celebration of this anniversary the National Library will present 20 volumes of the facsimile reproductions of books by our fellow countryman Francysk Skaryna.
