The President of Belarus has pardoned 30 persons convicted of protest crimes. The corresponding decree was signed by the head of state. "This decision is a humane gesture towards these people. They have got a chance to return to normal life, family and work", emphasised the Press Service. Among those pardoned are 7 women and 23 men. Most of the convicts are parents of minors and young children. All the persons submitted for pardon were studied by the commission for the return of fugitives under the leadership of the Prosecutor General. The prerequisites for pardon were met: application for pardon, confession of guilt, sincere remorse and a promise to lead a law-abiding life. Control over the behaviour of the released persons will be ensured by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
