Belarus is expanding cooperation with the Far Eastern regions of Russia. New areas of interaction were discussed by President Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the Governor of the Amur Region of Russia Vasily Orlov. The emphasis is on the implementation of large infrastructure projects. Alexander Lukashenko recalled that the region is "the capital of the Baikal–Amur Mainline", the half-century anniversary of which was celebrated on July 8. "This is one of the largest projects in the history of mankind, and 60 thousand Belarusians participated in the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline", the Head of State noted. Currently, large-scale projects are also being implemented in the Amur Region: the Vostochny cosmodrome, gas chemical giants – the Amur Gas Chemical Complex and the Amur Gas Processing Plant, a natural gas liquefaction complex. For example, one of these large projects is being implemented in Blagoveshchensk, which has been actively developing recently. The construction site of the Far Eastern Quarter provides for the construction of about 334 thousand square meters of housing in the city. "This means that the labor of Belarusian builders will probably be in demand here", said Alexander Lukashenko.
