The draft of updated National Security Concept was submitted to a meeting of the Security Council headed by the President. The All-Belarusian People’s Assembly will have to finally approve one of the most important documents of the country. As Alexander Lukashenko stated, adapting the National Security Concept to the realities of the day is a completely logical and modern step. Elements of the Cold War, e.g. arms race and nuclear blackmail have returned to international politics. Among the threats are not only nationalism and extremism. The meeting of the Security Council also discussed the law "On the People's Militia". The President immediately clarified that territorial troops are needed in the event of wartime to protect important facilities and the functioning of the economy, infrastructure, and government organizations. Every man should at least be able to handle weapons, the Belarusian leader summed up.
