A meeting of the presidents of Belarus and Russia took place in Sochi the day before. The heads of state discussed economic matters, integration and vaccine production. Aleksandr Lukashenko thanked Vladimir Putin for the support that the Russian side is providing to the country, and also noted that at least half of Belarus's trade turnover is tied to Russia, and relatively small Belarus is Russia's fourth most important trading partner. The presidents touched upon the important topic of vaccination. Russia has already transferred technologies for the production of Sputnik V to Belarus. After the meeting, the heads of state continued negotiations in Sochi while skiing. Later, the meeting's protocol included a joint lunch.
