Bishkek will host the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of State on October 13. The event will traditionally be held in a narrow and expanded format. Alexander Lukashenko will present Belarus’ position and proposals on the most pressing issues of interaction within the Commonwealth. The leaders of the CIS countries are expected to adopt a number of joint statements. The agenda item on establishing observer and partner status for the CIS is aimed at expanding the potential of the Commonwealth and increasing its role in the international arena. It is also planned to introduce a number of changes to the legal acts of the CIS and discuss a wide range of issues. On the sidelines of the summit – during meetings, negotiations and interaction of the Heads of State – issues of bilateral cooperation between countries will also be discussed.
