The President of Belarus is on a working visit to Russia. In an informal setting in Sochi, Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Vladimir Putin. The politicians discussed a number of topical issues on the bilateral agenda. These days Sochi is hosting meetings of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the Council of CIS Heads of Government, as well as several related events. At these levels, many issues of Belarusian-Russian cooperation are coordinated. The day before, the President of Belarus said that he would propose to the Russian leader to develop a program of action – the so-called internal development plan of the Union State, in order to ensure self-sufficiency and depend neither on the West nor on the East. Sanctions only strengthen Belarus-Russia ties. We reveal our technological potential more strongly, develop cooperation and start new projects. There are many ambitious plans in mechanical engineering, processing, and logistics. A significant contribution to the trade turnover between Belarus and Russia is made by interregional cooperation. In addition to the economy, the politicians discussed security issues. According to Vladimir Putin, the situation is generally stable. As for the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons in Belarus, it will begin immediately after the completion of the preparation of facilities for them on July 7-8.
