Meeting on economic performance

The performance of the Belarusian economy in 2020 and draft forecasts of the country's development in the next year were discussed during the meeting at the Palace of Independence. The pandemic has hit many industries noticeably. However, opting out of a total lock-down and carefully designed government actions made it possible to avoid failures. Among the most important achievements is the financial stability in the banking sector and in the foreign exchange market. In the long term, the government suggests focusing on social stability, meaning income growth, containment of prices for socially significant goods, housing construction, and control of the unemployment rate. The head of state referred to this approach as conceptual.
