Memorable and mournful date in the history of Belarus. Today is the Day of National Remembrance of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and the genocide of the Belarusian people. President Alexander Lukashenko addressed his compatriots. "Today we remember a sad date. Eighty-one years ago, the warm, sunny Sunday morning of June 22 in an instant turned into the horrors of bombing, the merciless extermination of civilians and endless pain for millions of Soviet citizens. The scope of the fascist terror was such that we still do not know the exact number of casualties. For more than a year, the Prosecutor General's Office has been investigating the case of the genocide of the Belarusian people, opening more and more places of mass graves of people - shot, hanged, burned alive. The crimes of the Nazis on Belarusian soil will be given a proper legal assessment, and the results of the investigation will be presented to the world community", said Alexander Lukashenko.
