Minsk and Caracas are determined to reset relations. The present and future cooperation between the two countries was discussed at the Palace of Independence. Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Venezuelan Vice President for Planning Ricardo Menéndez. The countries have a lot in common, e.g. similar views on many issues on the international agenda, commitment to a multipolar world order, and condemnation of sanctions. This has always brought Minsk and Caracas closer. Diplomatic relations have been going on for more than a quarter of a century, they have a strong political basis. The same high level must be ensured for economic contacts. Ahead is a revision of bilateral relations. Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that today Venezuela is respected throughout the world. The country defended its sovereignty and independence and only became stronger in the face of pressure and sanctions. Belarus appreciates its courage and resilience. The Vice President of Venezuela, in turn, assured Alexander Lukashenko of Venezuela’s special warm attitude toward the Belarusian people and conveyed the wishes of the head of the Bolivarian Republic to hold a personal meeting and discuss bilateral cooperation in detail.
