А. Lukashenko familiarises himself with the results of the experiment on cultivation of different varieties of corn

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has familiarised himself with the results of the experiment on cultivation of corn of different varieties at the Alexandriyskoye joint-stock company. Twelve hybrids of imported and domestic maize were cultivated for evaluation. Foreign varieties mature earlier and give more grain, but Belarusian hybrids also show good yield. Over the last 10 years, the productivity of hybrids has increased by a quarter. The President drew attention to the fact that scientists should give results, and this applies not only to corn, but to the scientific sphere as a whole. As it was noted during the working visit of the President, it makes economic sense to cultivate high-yielding imported varieties for grain only in strong advanced farms. The majority of agricultural enterprises in Belarus can quite successfully work with domestic varieties.
