A new alternative energy facility has been commissioned in the Minsk region. A peat-fired boiler-house started operating in Stolbtsy. This is local natural fuel, and the complex itself is of Belarusian production. All the processes are automated as much as possible and are controlled by only two operators. The output is 12 Megawatts. The Stolbtsy boiler house was built to take into account the town's growth as a new quarter is being built here, where a school, another kindergarten and a shopping center will be located. This year similar boiler houses will be commissioned in Borovlyany and Krupki. But in Soligorsk there are already plans to build a large boiler house that would fire wood pellets. The ultimate goal is to convert generation in all cities of the central region to local fuels.
