The growth of exchange trade in Belarus in the first quarter of this year exceeded 20%. And that’s given last year’s record-high figures, when the trade turnover amounted to more than four billion dollars. While in 2021 the bulk of trading operations was represented by timber products, this year the sanctions lead to the exchange focusing on agricultural produce and metal products. New segments of exchange commodity market have also emerged, including export trade in petroleum products, and sales of sawn products and cement at home. Taking into account the geopolitical situation, formation of a common exchange market for goods with its own pricing system in national currencies within the EAEU is on the agenda.
