Electronic timber accounting introduced in Belarus

The State Control Committee has initiated the introduction of an electronic timber accounting system. Now each batch can be traced from anywhere in the country. The new system will help eradicate illegal trade in timber. Putting things in order in this segment of the economy was required by the President. Over the past year and a half, inspectors have identified about two hundred thousand cubic meters of timber that was traded illegally. The accounting system introduced at the initiative of the State Control Committee has already been put into operation across the Belarusian forestry enterprises.
