A photo exhibition timed to 30 years since the Spitak tragedy is being prepared at the National Historical Museum. On December 7, 1988 a powerful earthquake nearly destroyed the city of Spitak. Other areas in northwest Armenia were also affected. About 970 thousand people found themselves in the disaster area. Belarus took part in the disaster control efforts. The retrospective exhibition is based on photos by correspondents of the Belarusian Telegraph Agency, who worked at the site, as well as copies of the photographs of their Armenian colleagues.
