The opening of the XXXVI International Festival of Modern Choreography (IFMC) took place in Vitebsk Aleksandr Subbotin, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, welcomed the guests and participants of the festival.: "The festival has rightfully become one of the recognizable business cards of the Vitebsk region and the Republic of Belarus"

Ekaterina Usova, Head of the Main Department of State Special Cultural Events and Professional Art of the Ministry of Culture, noted the scale of the dance forum: "This year, 11 participating countries are represented in the festival program, and this once again confirms that the universal language of dance has made us even closer and clearer to each other." The main event of the festival will be the republican contest of modern choreography. The contestants will be evaluated by a jury of experts from Russia, France, Italy, and Spain, chaired by Konstantin Kuznetsov, People's Artist of Belarus, Choreographer of the National Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theater of the Republic of Belarus.
