Nobel laureates in Physics announced in Sweden

Nobel Prize winners in physics have been announced today in Sweden. The award in the amount of nearly a million dollars will be given to David Thouless, Duncan Haldane and Michael Kosterlitz. Their work has allowed physicists to better describe phenomena such as superconductivity, superfluidity and magnetism of two-dimensional materials. In the coming days the Nobel Prize winners in chemistry, economics, literature and the Nobel Peace Prize winner will be announced. The awarding ceremony will be held in Stockholm and Oslo on 10 October.
