Lukashenko urgese Moldova to hold onto its sovereignty, independence
26.05.2026
Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with Moldovan politician and former president Igor Dodon, who currently serves as the leader of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova. A. Lukashenko and I. Dodon are long-standing friends. The Moldovan politician has visited Minsk on numerous occasions, both during his tenure as the country's leader and later as a party leader. Minsk and Chișinău have forged close ties across various fields for many years. But Moldova's current political course not only complicates bilateral cooperation but puts into question the country's sovereignty. Aleksandr Lukashenko makes no secret of the pain he feels for the country, a republic close to Belarusians.
